Paper Bag Styles:

Sack constructions usually are of two general types and are designated according to the filling method to be used:

Sewn Open Mouth (S0M) Filling is done by gravity or compression. Open mouth sacks are fabricated in the sack plant except for the top which is closed in a variety of ways at the packing plant. Easy open features available Flat or gusseted tube High quality print Common uses: bakery mixes, feed and seed and sugar
Self Opening Square (S0S) Has pasted block bottom Open end flush cut Gusseted
Pasted Open Mouth (POM) Pasted satchel style bottom Open end flush cut No gusset
Pasted Valve (PV) Filling is done through a filling tube or spout. Valve sacks are usually fabricated entirely in the sack plant, except for a corner opening to allow filling at the customer's packing plant. Tuck in sleeve, tube and double poly lock sleeves available High quality print Bags can be made for use in high speed automated applications Common uses: cement, minerals, plastics, chemicals and food

What Size Multiwall Bag Do I Need?

(Please reference the chart below to help you with your sizing needs.)

If you are unsure of your products bulk density you can fill a 1 cubic foot box with your product and weigh it.

To figure the correct bag size, you will need the bulk density of your product as well as how many lbs you will need in your bags. Please use this example below:

Customer wants to put 50 lbs into a bag
Product’s bulk density is 23
Take lbs (50) –divided by – bulk density (23) = bag volume (2.17)
Then based on the style of bag that you need – reference chart.

For this example if you needed an SOM, the closest size on the chart is 2.18 so you would need an SOM bag of size 17x5x41.
