United Bags, Inc. has a long history with woven polypropylene bags. In the mid 1960’s, United Bags created a division called Synthetic Industries. Synthetic Industries was one of the very first companies in the United States to extrude and weave woven polypropylene. This division of United Bags was created to manufacture sand bags to protect our American soldiers at war. These sandbags were also used across America for flood protection, erosion control and other uses. As the market developed, United Bags manufactured and sold woven polypropylene bags for commodity dry goods (grains, seeds, pet food, animal feed, fertilizer, resins, chemicals and other food products), as well as to the United States Department of Agriculture for exporting grains to countries in need of nutrition.
Unlike paper bags, woven polypropylene bags are puncture resistant. This saves the shipper costs from lost product and bag loss during shipping.

Recently, a new technique has been developed to enhance the printing on a woven polypropylene bag. This has been accomplished with reverse printing using BOPP film (Bi-Oriented PolyPropylene). With the advent of BOPP film, (laminated to an already strong woven polypropylene bag), the woven bags now have the same high quality graphics found on multiwall paper bags and polyethylene bags.

With shelf appeal and its legendary strength, the BOPP woven polypropylene bag is gaining market share from the multiwall bag industry.

Market applications utilizing BOPP woven polypropylene bags include:
  • Food Products
  • Pet Food
  • Animal Feed
  • Cat Litter
  • Building Materials
  • Fertilizer
  • Resins
  • Chemicals
Companies who have been accustomed to using multiwall paper bags can utilize their same packing equipment to fill BOPP - open mouth or valve woven polypropylene bags.
